LONDON (MarketWatch) — Shares in Barclays and other banks closed sharply lower Tuesday in London, bringing a halt to the seven straight sessions of gains recorded by the U. The Financial Times, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that Barclays had provided backup financing to one of four vehicles Barclays Capital set up for the German bank. SEARCH engine Google will run text-based advertising on the websites of The Daily Telegraph, The Herald Sun and The Australian, among others, after striking a deal to add News Digital Media to its content network. The multi-year deal, which could generate millions of dollars in pay-per-click revenue to be shared between the two parties, will also see Google replace Yahoo as the search results provider on NDM websites. Revenue from the paid search ads generated by Google on the media websites operated by NDM (which is owned by News Limited, publisher of The Australian) will also be shared. The two companies have other relationships, including a tie-up between Google and News’s TrueLocal business directory and a deal for Google to sell advertising on News Corporation’s social networking website MySpace. read more

I want to bring up either the part or drawing and be able to save both at one time to a different directory, but also be able to rename them at the same time. Bring up the part and use ‘Save a copy’ to create the new part, and location. If the part and the drawing have the same file name, saving a copy of the part should also save a copy of the drawing. First copy the drawing and part to a new folder so you don’t damage your originals. Then, when you do a SAVE AS and give the part a new name, Pro/E will create a copy of the drawing with the same new name. read more

SpinVox, a British company led by Christina Domecq, a native of Spain, is among a handful of aggressive technology companies that are trying to use voice as the next on-ramp to the Internet via the mobile phone. The company also markets a service that lets you publish a text entry to your blog on the Internet just by making a phone call - handy when you want to post right from a conference, trade show, concert or other event. Domecq co-founded SpinVox with Daniel Doulton, who left the pioneering British technology company Psion several years ago with some ideas for using speech in new ways. Domecq, 30, said SpinVox expected to announce nine more deals with carriers and Internet service providers by the end of the year, five of them in North America and at least one a “tier one” name. To persuade carriers, SpinVox is citing company statistics that people using the services make 7 percent more voice calls and send 14 percent more text messages as a result. read more

This year’s planned investment includes the addition of new cell sites, expanded high speed wireless broadband service (3G) and approximately 150 new radios to more than 70 cell sites throughout the state. This year, AT&T has already turned on three new cell sites in the state, including two sites in Hamden — one that provides coverage along the Route 10 and Route 40 connector and another that enhances the wireless service on Route 10 between Hamden and Cheshire. Through last year’s introduction of the blazing-fast 3G network, customers now have access to DSL-type speeds for their laptops and access to the latest entertainment, news and weather programming through AT&T Video and AT&T Music. The new AT&T Experience Store, located in the Perimeter area of Atlanta, is larger than the typical wireless store. Using wireless phones, Bluetooth stereo headsets and laptops, personnel will demonstrate game-downloading to wireless phones and store laptops at this station. In addition, a centrally located Personal Style Studio will showcase high-end accessories and will allow customers to purchase external wireless features, such as ringtones, crystal handset designs and phone “tattoos,” or pictures that customers can download to a laptop in-store, print on a sticker and apply to wireless phones.
